Easter, Birthday, and all the rest

Well it has been a while. I hope everyone is not tired of checking the blog and not seeing anything new. Easter has come and gone along with Maecee's 3rd birthday party. We (Tommy) have been building a deck on the back on the house. It is now complete. It was quite a project. Davis is everywhere. He is not crawling traditionally yet, but is doing the army crawl all over the place. For some reason he likes to go to the bathroom. He follows Maecee everywhere. I am so glad that I had them close together. They love each other. We went to the Walker County Fair and Rodeo. Maecee got to pet the animals at the children's barnyard and got to ride some rides. It was her first time to ride carnival rides. She had a blast. She is definitely a thrill seeker so it was right up her alley.

We started some new Easter traditions this year since Maecee is older. I traced both of the kids hands and we made handprint lillies. We gave one to Rosemary and some to the neighbors. I found a count down to Easter online that we did together each night. Each night we read a bible verse and had something symbolic to represent that verse. I wanted her to understand the real reason for Easter so we made a tomb and put Jesus in it and on Easter morning he was gone. I think it really helped her understand. We decorated eggs and while she was sleeping I hid them in her room and filled her basket with goodies from the Easter bunny. We went to church and came home for Easter dinner.

We have several traditions that we do to celebrate birthdays. One is to decorate the birthday girl's door. I decorate it according to the birthday theme. This year she had a cooking party.

After Maecee went to bed, Tommy and I blew up balloons and filled her room with them.

We release the number of balloons according to her age. We released 3 balloons for our big 3 year old.

Each child got to decorate their own cake and make their own pizza at the party.

This was Maecee's birthday cake. I got the basic idea off the internet and then added a few personal touches.
Each year I take a picture of Maecee and her daddy to show how much she has grown.

Maecee enjoyed petting the animals at the fair. Of course, I didn't touch one of them and made sure Maecee was sanitized when she exited...hahaaaa
This was Maecee's favorite part of all...the carnival rides! She couldn't get the smile off her face. Our little guy slept throught the whole thing. What a blessing he has been to our family.

Maecee helped daddy many nights on the deck. Tommy worked late almost every night. Maecee would go out in her pajamas and tell him goodnight. Before she would come back in she would tell him, "Daddy it is getting dark. You need to come in and don't forget to take a shower." I guess she has heard me say that too many times. Tommy has a rule about coming to bed dirty...it is not allowed!
